Kate Haywood: Swimmer
19-year old Kate Haywood was the youngest ever swimmer to represent England at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Currently ranked Number 1 in her age group and 16th in the world, she has broken the 50m and 100m short and long course record 12 times and has also held 14 British swimming records.
At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne she won a Silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay, and in August at The European Championships in Budapest she won Silver in the 50m breaststroke and came 4th in the 100m breaststroke.
In 2003, Kate won the BBC Young Sport Personality of the Year.
Kate says of her role with McDonald's Olympic hopefuls 'Keeping fit and active is very important, and although I train harder than the average person it is important that people factor in time during the week to exercise. I'm really looking forward to working with McDonald's, visiting and meeting kids all over the UK to talk to them about the easy and fun activities they can do to keep active.'
