Sir Geoff Hurst MBE: McDonald's
Director of Football

Sir Geoff Hurst Sir Geoff Hurst MBE made his name with West Ham United. He played 499 league and cup games for the Hammers and scored 248 goals for the club. He was West Ham's player of the year three times and won the FA Cup in 1964 and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965 with the club.

It was with the English national team that Sir Geoff became a world football icon though. Not only as part of the England team that won the World Cup at Wembley in 1966, but for also scoring a hat-trick in the final. Kenneth Wolstenholme uttered the immortal words when commentating on Sir Geoff's final goal: "Some people are on the pitch, they think its all over…it is now."

After leaving West Ham Sir Geoff played for Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, he then moved to Telford as player/ manager and had a spell playing in America and Kuwait.

Sir Geoff became the assistant coach to the England National Team under Ron Greenwood from 1977 to 1982. He then went on to manage Chelsea for 2 years, before concentrating on a new career in insurance.

In 1998 Sir Geoff was Knighted, the news was announced just before the Fifa World CupTM, which again made front-page news across the world.

In April 2002 Sir Geoff was appointed by McDonald's to spearhead the company's football partnerships as its Director of Football in the UK.
