Your questions answered

How do you keep the bags of fruit fresh?

McDonald's adds vitamin C in the form of naturally occurring ascorbic acid and citric acid to the fruit to stop it from oxidising and the apples from turning brown once they have been sliced. This is similar to putting lemon juice onto a fruit salad at home. The Fruit Bags are also chilled throughout the process to keep them fresh.

Are fruit bags suitable for vegans?

McDonald's has no items on its menu officially certified as being suitable for vegans as they are prepared in a kitchen that also prepares meat products in a separate area. However our Fruit Bags contain only apples and grapes, so could be enjoyed by a vegan with very minimal risk, as could our Garden Salad, Carrot Sticks and the French Fries.
