







The quality of our food is at the root of everything we do. Thanks to our carefully selected suppliers (and the right mix of weather), only top quality ingredients go into McDonald's food.
We work closely with suppliers and producers, and we've developed good, long-term relationships. They help us maintain the highest possible standards in quality, safety and traceability. So our customers can enjoy the great taste of McDonald's every time they visit.
- We're proud that all of our beef comes from cattle raised on British and Irish farms.
- In 2009, over 16,000 farmers supplied our beef - making us one of the biggest purchasers of British and Irish beef.
- All our burgers are made from 100% beef, supplied by farms accredited by nationally recognised farm assurance schemes.
- Only whole cuts of beef from forequarter and flank go into our burgers, with nothing added but a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking.
- We only use succulent chicken breast meat across our entire chicken menu.
- We only use chicken from suppliers who meet our strict animal welfare standards.
- Every chicken can be traced back to the farm where it was raised.
- Today, our Chicken McNuggets contain 30% less salt than they did in 2003.
- Our famous fries are made from only the best quality potatoes, such as Russet Burbank, Shepody and Pentland Dell. The vast majority of these are grown here in the UK.
- In 2009, 295 producers grew over 192,000 tonnes of potatoes for our fries and hash browns.
- In 2005, we reduced the salt in our fries by 24% and any customer can ask for fries without salt.
- We have reduced the saturated fat in the oil used to cook our fries by 35% and we've removed all hydrogenated oils from our entire menu.
- All of our pork comes from British farmers accredited by nationally recognised farm assurance schemes.
- We only use cuts of British pork across our entire menu.
- Only cuts of shoulder and belly are used to make our famous Sausage & Egg McMuffins.
- In 2009, we used over 91 million free range eggs on our
Breakfast menu. - We only use British free-range eggs for our Breakfast menu, in our sauces and in coatings for our chicken.
- The hens laying these are fed on a non-GM diet.
- All our eggs are free from artificial colourants.
- We estimate that our British producers have planted approximately 485,000 trees on free-range laying hen ranges to give the hens shelter and shade.
- In 2009, we used over 49 million litres of fresh milk and every drop of it came from British farms that comply with nationally recognised farm assurance schemes.
- We can trace all of our milk back to the farms it came from.
- All our bottled milk is organic and semi-skimmed.
- We only ever use fresh dairy milk for our ice-creams, milkshakes, and McFlurry®.
- We only use British organic semi-skimmed milk in all of our teas and coffees.
- Every cup of coffee we serve, be it black, white, latte, or cappuccino, is made using 100% freshly ground Arabica beans.
- All of the beans we use come from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.
- These farms have achieved demanding standards for social and environmental improvement. This means a better and more sustainable deal for the farmers, their workers and the environment too.
