McDonald's Football Coaching Programme has won the prestigious Sport England Community Programme Award.

The judges were particularly impressed by the huge impact of the programme and the fact that it is a genuine, long-term investment in grassroots sport rather than just a sponsorship deal. Sven-Goran Eriksson presented the award to Vice-President and Director of Corporate Affairs Julian Hilton-Johnson, and Sport Sponsorship Manager Stephen Hall.

Julian congratulated Stephen and his team, saying: "It's a tremendous recognition of what we all know is an outstanding programme - having now created over 6,000 coaches across the UK with more than 3.2 million children benefiting from the coaching. We're well on our way to creating our target of 10,000 coaches by the end of 2006."
