McDonald's spent £460 million in 2006 on buying produce from the UK.

All of the farmers we buy from comply with standards set by farm assurance schemes and our own standards which often go further in areas such as animal welfare and environmental practices.

We use 100% beef in our hamburgers, using whole cuts of forequarter and flank from the British Isles sourced from over 16,000 farmers in the UK and Ireland.

All McDonald's coffee comes from farms certified by the Rainforest Alliance, an international non-profit organisation which aims to protect ecosystems and the people and wildlife that depend on them by transforming land use practices, business practices and consumer behaviour.

In 2007 we received a Good Egg Award from Compassion in World Farming for our use of free-range eggs - some 81 million in 2006, all from the UK.

In 2005 we received an RSPCA animal welfare award in recognition of the work done in our beef supply chain.

McDonald's supports sustainable fishing, only using fish that are caught in accordance with the Marine Stewardship Council's guidelines
