McDonald's appoints Chief Marketing Officer for Northern Europe

McDonald's Restaurants Ltd can today confirm the appointment of Jill McDonald as Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer for Northern Europe.

Jill will have dual responsibility for the UK and Northern Europe - aligning the Marketing function with McDonald's new European divisional structure, focused on bringing together expertise on a cross-market basis.

Jill joins McDonald's from British Airways, where she was most recently Head of Global Marketing with a remit spanning Brand strategy, global advertising and sponsorship, design, customer insight, employee involvement and service style development. Beginning her time at BA 16 years ago as a Brand Manager, Jill has speedily risen through the ranks, with roles including Regional Sales & Marketing Manager where she was tasked with repositioning the brand in the Asian market, and General Manager Global Marketing, where as part of the company commitment to 'British-ness', she launched the successful P.J.O'Rourke "Johnney Foreigner" advertising and spearheaded the Rugby World Cup Sponsorship generating multi million pound revenue for the company.

McDonald's UK President and CEO, Steve Easterbrook said: "This is an exciting and dynamic position, and we are confident Jill, a skilled and highly experienced marketer, is the right person for the job. With an illustrious 16-year career at one of the world's best-known companies, Jill brings relevant expertise across a variety of disciplines to McDonald's.

Jill, 42, is married with two sons.
