New Year, New Look - Dressing to impress - McDonald's launches new low fat Salad dressings
UK Press Releases
December 16, 2004
McDonald's today announced it is to launch new low fat, fewer calorie Salad dressings in the New Year, replacing the existing range. The Caesar, Ranch and Balsamic dressings will all contain 3% fat or less, and less than 70 calories, with the Balsamic coming in at only 22 calories per serving. The move represents the latest in a long line of changes at McDonald's - demonstrating further commitment to listening to customers.
McDonald's spokesperson Amanda Pierce said; "The Salads Plus range has proved very popular and since its launch in late March we've sold over 7.7 million salads. But, we're always looking at opportunities to make alterations to our menu in line with our customers changing tastes. Our customers told us they wanted a choice of lower fat dressings, which is why we're replacing all the options in the New Year. We'll continue to listen to our customers and make more changes where relevant."
This change to the Salads Plus menu marks the latest stage in a series of ongoing developments to offer customers more variety and choice. 2004 has been a year of groundbreaking change at McDonald's, with the launch of Salads Plus - the biggest change to the menu for 30 years, a 30% salt reduction in Chicken McNuggets, fries (24%) and ketchup (23%), and the launch of the new look breakfast menu including Oatso Simple porridge, bagels and fruit toast.
Amanda added: "These new choices reflect a wider culture of change at McDonald's. From January customers can enjoy a Grilled Chicken Salad with their choice of dressing for under 330 calories, so sticking to those New Year's resolutions will now be a little bit easier!"
The new dressings will be available in restaurants nationwide from 17th January.
