Supporting football in our communities
Last year's match was a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of McDonald's UK Football Programme including; Sponsoring 4500 local clubs, Training 20,000 coaches by 2010, Coaching over 1 million kids by 2010 and Getting more mums into coaching.
The Community Shield provides the opportunity to celebrate those who make grassroots football possible by inviting thousands of coaches, players and fans to come and enjoy the season's curtain raiser.

Over 1,000 of the 15,500 volunteer community football coaches that McDonald's has already helped create in England attended this year's match. Thank you for your continued support!

Player Escorts
22 lucky youngsters were selected through competitions to walk out with their heroes as McDonald's Player Escorts.
On target!
Five lucky, but nervous, competition winners felt the pressure of taking a penalty in front of a packed Wembley crowd at half time.
Trophy Tour
In the weeks leading up to match, McDonald's customers and staff had the chance to see the famous Community Shield up close as it toured restaurants in London and Manchester.
Big day out
Over 200 young players from FA Charter Standard Club teams sponsored by their local McDonald's restaurants took part in a pre-match parade and coaching session on the hallowed turf.
Shield winner
After one of the most hotly contested Community Shield matches in recent years, Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea side lifted the first silverware of the season.
