Back to basics

Anne discusses her new experience of taking on a franchise under the Golden Arches. "...After twenty years at a major blue-chip IT company, I didn't expect to be going back to the shop floor - but once I qualified as a McDonald's franchisee, that's exactly what I did."

"Every franchisee starts out by spending nine months getting under the skin of the operation - everything from serving at the front counter to managing a restaurant's bottom line. When you look at how the McDonald's system works, it makes sense; over half the Board started out in restaurants so knowing the fundamentals of the business really is the starting point for success."

"Since I took on my franchise, I have invested extensively, upgrading the customer experience with a bold, contemporary new look, and speeding up service with investments in the latest technology. These changes have paid dividends and sales have grown by 20% over the last two years. This has had a direct benefit to the local community too, as I've increased my staff by almost a third."

"The choice of McDonald's was pretty clear; they are a worldclass brand with an outstanding reputation. Every step of the process was professional and thorough and I have absolute confidence in the brand."
